My name is Crystal. I reside on a 160 acre farm, just outside of Estevan,
Sask Canada. Married 18yrs a mother of three
children, ages 17, 16 &14.
I love animals, and we have a variety of pets such as dogs , cats, a corn
snake, horses, an African Grey parrots, chickens, a chinchilla, a ferrets and
more :)
Out of theses animals many are rescues. "Socky" a ferret, that was turned
over to a petstore from some young kids. He was in pretty bad shape, thin,
lethargic, bad teeth, bald broken tail. He's the Star of the ferret videos.
saddly he has since passed away and will be dearly missed.
Rex a Pitbull that was headed to the Edmonton S.P.C.A to make room for
baby. He has the beginnings of Hip Dysplasia.
I purchased Archie and Riddler from the auction. Bidding was me vs the
meat buyer. I won :)
Skittles the kitty was in desperate need of vet care at her prior home.
Leaving her blind in one eye.
Jay Jay the chinchilla, was from a petstore. He was too mean and no one
wanted him. So we got him for the price of his cage.
Others came from great homes, it's just that the owners no longer had the
time. Such as Faulty the Timeh Grey and Sketch the Ferret.
From a young age, I was the kid in the neighborhood that the kids bought
injured animals to. Every thing from gophers, magpies to pigeons, etc.
Even now from time to time we also
come across animals, that need our assistance until they are
ready to be released. For example, the crow seen in the picture
with "Gavon" I found him in the middle of the road. I thought
he was dead, until I seen him turn and look at me. He was
partially paralyzed for 2 days( I think the stress of being hit
did it). 2 weeks later we were able to release him back into the
wild. As well as 2 baby orphaned skunks which are no longer babies & have
since been released.
I try to give back as much as I receive. This is why I am working closely with
the Saskatoon S.P.C.A, and donating a generous portion of my sign sales to
their shelter. I don't believe that you only should help and care about
animals "close to home". I am willing to help were I can, whether that's in
my province, or in another State :)
Drawing has always been a passion of mine, ever since a young
age. In 1997 I received my diploma in Commercial and Fine Art.
This for me is a dream come true, that people are buying my
art for their homes and loved ones. It's such a privilege. I never
in my wildest dreams thought that my art would be appreciated
by so many people!! I feel so lucky, that I have been able to make this into a
hobby that pays for itself, and helps support my rescues. Not only that I am
able to take something I love doing, and use it to help causes, by donating
signs to silent auctions for charities. This year will be my 4th year in a row,
donating to the University of Tennessee at Martin's Rodeo School silent
auction.
My goal in life is to be a famously well known eccentric artist,
this way when I die, anyone who was wonderful enough to buy
my artwork will be rich, lol. Seriously though my goal is to make a
difference in peoples life no matter how small, the only way I know how...
through my art, I am slowly achieving my goal, one person at a time :)
